Detailed description is Two States, Two Time Zones, and One Gold Medal! The City of Bullhead City in partnership with Laughlin is pleased to announce another major event for the region.
The Bullhead City/Laughlin Senior Games will be held in January throughout the two sister communities.

“Bullhead City’s economy relies on tourism and special events;” City Manager Toby Cotter said, “This new major event has been in the works for nearly two years.
We’ve heard about other successful senior games throughout the nation, but very few areas can offer the amenities of our region, especially in January.” .

Last year, City officials reached out to Laughlin Casino Presidents to collaborate on the best time of year to hold the event.
Resort Presidents suggested January as a great time to host the event because of seasonally warm weather, many area winter visitors, and availability of hotel rooms.
In developing this event, the two partners took into consideration the community strengths and unique attributes.

“We know our community has outstanding recreational facilities, great weather and more than 11,000 affordable hotels rooms,” said Ed Catalfamo, Recreational Supervisor.
Senior Games fits well within our wheelhouse to host sporting events all 12 months.
Event partners are proud to make this one of the most affordable events with athlete packages starting at $30 and hotel rates starting at $18 per night in Laughlin.
Athlete packages include official athlete t-shirt and swag bag, complete with vendor samples and exclusive coupons, as well as entrance to opening and closing ceremonies, access to health screenings, and athlete refreshments at each event..

Bullhead City Recreation Supervisor Katie Paul is leading the team to coordinate Senior Games.

Paul has met with the neighboring Huntsman Corporation based in St.
George, Utah.

Thirty years ago, Huntsman Games invited athletes 50 years of age and older, to compete in a myriad of tournaments measuring their prowess against the skills of their peers.
Today, their event offers over 30 different sports, hosts over 11,000 athletes, with athletes from all 50 states and 34 countries around the world.
Huntsman Games invited Ms.
Paul to shadow their staff during their record breaking 2016 event and has graciously offered to provide guidance for our 2017 event.

The Bullhead City Recreation Department is eager to break into this well established market and believes the area’s appeal is unique.
Bullhead City/Laughlin Senior Games will offer events in both Arizona and Nevada and boasts the tagline “Two States, Two Time Zones, One Gold Medal!” The three week event is slated to begin on January 8, 2017 and has the potential to bring a record number of athletes and visitors to the area.
The event will eventually become a ranking meet for the Arizona, Nevada, and California State Games..

“Our facilities are world class, can accommodate crowds, and attract headliners,” said Ms.

The Bullhead City/Laughlin Senior Games will be the only Olympic style event to feature gambling.
Not only will there be running, pickelball, softball and other traditional adult sports, the Bullhead City/Laughlin Senior Games will uniquely offer blackjack, poker, craps and slot tournaments.

The Senior Games offered this year include a 5k, bowling, golfing, shooting, swimming, softball, beanbags (cornhole), horseshoes, pickleball, soccer, table tennis, power lifting and volleyball.
The Senior Games will feature opening and closing ceremonies, athlete socials, medal awards and gift packages to all athletes.
