Detailed description is La Braye est une rivière française dont le cours se situe à l'ouest du Bassin parisien. Elle coule dans les départements d'Eure-et-Loir, de Loir-et-Cher et de la Sarthe. C'est un affluent du Loir, le plus important, donc un sous-affluent de la Loire par la Sarthe et enfin la Maine.GéographieElle prend sa source dans les collines du Perche, sur la commune de Ceton, à, près du lieu-dit le Sablon, à à l'ouest d'Authon-du-Perche et au sud de Nogent-le-Rotrou, en Eure-et-Loir.Elle se dirige d'abord vers le sud-ouest, empruntant une vallée très pittoresque. À hauteur de Vibraye, elle change d'orientation et se dirige vers le sud-est puis le sud, et reçoit dès lors les eaux du Couetron sur sa rive gauche. À Sargé-sur-Braye, elle reçoit à droite l'apport de la Grenne venue de Mondoubleau. Elle se dirige alors en droite ligne vers le Loir, recevant peu avant Bessé-sur-Braye, l'apport de l'Anille qui lui vient de Saint-Calais par la droite, ainsi que du Tusson, petit affluent venu de Vancé et de La Chapelle-Gaugain.
