It is operated by the Board Members that are selected by the entire membership base of the club every year during the annual Club Shoot.HistoryThe Boise Gun Club has been in operation for 113 years in the Boise Valley, and started in 1898.The Boise Gun Club began to organize in 1892, to meet the needs of Shotgun Shooting and Bird Hunting in Boise, Idaho. Before clubs started to form in the state there were many Turkey Shoots, Live Pigeon Shoots, and other activities put on by individuals or groups. In 1893 the club was up and running and offering Clay Pigeon shooting events. In 1898 the club became official and it was then incorporated by the State of Idaho in 1917. Before there was a club the first Idaho State Trap Shoot was held at the old fairgrounds in Boise, Idaho in 1904. In 1998 the Idaho State Shoot was held at the Boise Gun Club in the club's centennial year.One of the original sites for the club was Hulls Gulch, and by 1912 it had more than 100 members. Several location changes took place in the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s while the club continued to host many state shoots and other activities.In 1942 the club moved a building onto property just off Federal Way. While at this location, many milestone events took place—Including installment of the first electric traps in 1954, a major clubhouse and grounds expansion and remodeling in 1963, and in 1967 that last Amateur Trapshooting Association state shoot held on four traps.
