Detailed description is Bitwa pod Cepeda miała miejsce dnia 1 lutego 1820 r w rejonie Cañada de Cepeda koło Santa Fe w trakcie wojny domowej w Argentynie. Bitwa była jedną z większych batalii pomiędzy Unitarystami a siłami federalnymi.Należące do Ligi Federalnej prowincje Santa Fe i Entre Ríos zawiązały sojusz mający na celu zniesienie ustanowionej w roku 1819 konstytucji i obalenie rządu Zjednoczonych Prowincji Río de la Platy. Głównymi oponentami w toczonym konflikcie byli José Rondeau stający na czele rządu oraz Estanislao López i Francisco Ramírez przywódcy obu zbuntowanych prowincji, zwolennicy José Gervasio Artigasa.Bitwa pod Cepeda zakończyła się zdecydowanym zwycięstwem sił federalnych. Wynik bitwy okazał się kamieniem milowym ku ustanowieniu nowego federalnego rządu w Argentynie. Po bitwie doszło do rozłamu w szeregach koalicjantów. Estanislao López i Francisco Ramírez opowiedzieli się przeciwko Artigasowi. Konflikt doprowadził do starcia militarnego w wyniku którego siły Ramíreza pokonały zwolenników Artigasa, który zmuszony był udać się na wygnanie do Paragwaju. Zwycięski Ramírez dnia 29 września 1820 r. powołał do życia Republikę Entre Ríos. Dnia 10 lipca 1821 r. został jednak zamordowany przez zwolenników swojego niedawnego sojusznika Estanislao Lópeza, po którego stronie opowiedziały się prowincje Buenos Aires oraz Corrientes.
