Detailed description is COST: $20 for 1-hour lesson. $15 for 30-minute lesson. $150 for group of 10 1-hour lessons. TIMES: Friday from 4-10. Saturday from 9am-10pm. I am Ben Foley, a high school student who has been playing chess for about two and a half years. Since my uncle introduced me to the game in 2013, I have experienced extremely raid growth, gaining 1400 United States Chess Federation rating points in that amount of time. My online rating stands at 1700, but I have beaten 1800-rated players on the computer on many occasions. With regards to over-the-board chess, I have drawn two experts (players rated 2000 or higher) four times and have beaten an 1800 five or six times. With regards to teaching and coaching experience, I have been working with K-12 students at chess clubs around Bloomington, Indiana for over a year. I have coached at Fairview Elementary School since the start of the 2015 school year, I have taught and coached at University Elementary School since August of 2014, and I have taught basic lessons for beginners at the Crestmont Community Center. Additionally in 2016, I have coached the advanced players at Marlin Elementary School and have accepted a part-time coaching position at the Boys and Girls Club of Crestmont. Transforming eager kids into chess whizzes is what I do!. . During the 2016 fall semester, I discontinued private lessons. After much thought and planning, I have decided to start them up again! I am available Friday from 4pm-store closing, Saturday from store opening-store closing, and Sunday from store opening-store closing. Occasionally there will be a day when I am out of town, sick, or too busy with a previously-arranged obligation, so I will always tell those signing up if I will or will not be able to make it to the lesson. Soon I will be creating a Facebook calendar with my already-booked times, but, in the meantime, I will inform those signing up if a lesson conflicts with another.. . What rating/level range is best for my lessons? Unrated-1200 is my target rating range. If students are unrated but have playing experience, it can depend, but generally I am best for students who have been playing for a few years.
