In 1972 Peter and Lonhilt Klose were encouraged by friends and neighbors to create a swim and tennis club.
After conducting an informal survey to establish interest among Troy residents, an association was founded and several acres of land next to Schroeder Elementary were acquired from real estate developers Samuel Frankel and his son, Stewart.
