Detailed description is Welcome to a new CSA in Newaygo County! If you have children, you may have asked yourself, or them, if they were raised in a barn! Well, we have 5 kiddos, and the name BarnRaised was perfect for our little homestead. . . We are a small family owned homestead that raises chickens, pigs, rabbits and goats. We also have a family cow, and other pets on the farm. We love to garden, and grow a variety of great kid friendly produce. It is important that our children know where real food comes from.. . We want to share our great venture with others. Other families, other parents and other people. Therefor, this year we will be offering a Meat and Veggie CSA. We have 12 full shares available and plan to keep it small scale so it fits into our busy lives. Our CSA dates run June through September, for 18 weeks.. . A full share of our CSA will offer 1/4 side of pork, a turkey, 5 chickens, 5 rabbits, a dozen eggs weekly, and a bushel or so or fresh veggies weekly. You get to decide if you want the meat spread over weeks, or all when ready to process. Whatever you decide on the meat, the veggies and eggs will need to be picked up weekly, on Thursdays. Once we have a general consensus of where our members are, we will make a plan for 2 meet spots. One closer to Grand Raids, and another closer to Muskegon. We are a very easy going family, and will accommodate other families trying to raise their children to love quality food.. . All of our animals are fed NON GMO feed that we have milled by a local Amish family. All of the garden plants are also started from NON GMO seed, majority of them being heirlooms. If you have not tasted homegrown pork, chicken or a eaten a real fresh tomato; you are in for a real treat.. . We ask that every CSA share (member) spend at least 10 hours on our homestead helping to seed, weed and care for animals. We are accommodating with dates, and can wok out a schedule that works for all.
