Hi there! My name is Mary! I am the Owner of Barbee & Bear Boutique! .
Before we get started, I want to personally thank YOU for taking the time to read about the shop, Maddie and I.
With that being said, I'll start by explaining the name change and how BOTH came about..
While pregnant, I came up with the name "Baby M's Boutique." When my daughter Maddie was born, it was just perfect ! "Baby M" for Baby Maddie! For the past couple of months however, I have been pondering & contemplating a name change.
I finally decided to take a leap of faith..
We are now "Barbee & Bear Boutique!" .
"WHY?" you ask? .
My nickname growing up from friends was "Sunshine Barbee," and the nickname for Maddie is "Maddie Bear!" I blended the two together to make it a mommy-and-daughter-type of thing......
and then BOOM! Barbee & Bear was created! It just feels so right and perfect for us! I hope you all enjoy the new name as much as we do! .
Now, I'll take you on a trip to my childhood and early teen years....Come along with me!.
Throughout my childhood, creativity CONSUMED me! I was always trying to draw or paint something, fighting against the trees getting chopped down, or make something out of clay.
You name it, I did it! I've even had pink, purple and blue, and bright red hair! While I was busy making things, creating magic and barely passing, my sister was getting straight A's.
When I got a C in math, I was so ecstatic I literally jumped for joy! I was always in trouble with my parents too! They said art wouldn't get me anywhere, even though I excelled in all types of creative classes- art, dance, and photography, to name a few.
Being creative came naturally! My parents just didn't understand when I tried to explain to them that I wasn't able to properly use the left side of my brain (the logical side)! They needed to embrace my right-sided thoughts! They would laugh and tell me to sit down and study longer! I still find it funny to this day! .
Fast-forward a couple of years.....

After dating lots of frogs..
I FOUND MY PRINCE! .
My husband, Brian, serves in the Air Force.
He is my hero, and I am very proud to be his wife! .
First comes love, then comes marriage, and then comes a baby carriage! I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl last year on Mothers Day.
SHE is who we all have to thank for the creative juices flowing! She inspires me daily.
I want to be the best mother for her and show her that when you work hard, you can accomplish your dreams- even if you are a right-minded person!.
While I was pregnant, I used to take my daily trips to Babies 'R' Us to look at clothes, strollers, accessories, all things baby.
Well, the accessories at Babies 'R' Us are expensive, and not very cute! .
My little hamsters started thinking , the wheels started turning, and I started making pretty little accessories on my own.
I wanted her to flaunt the prettiest, most fabulous items! Friends and random people on the street started asking where I bought my items and I explained to them That they were handmade.
My accessories started selling themselves, even the ones right off of her pretty little head! Bad Mommy!.
I soon started to get custom requests from friends for their children and it seemed only natural to open up shop! I provide pretty things for all of those busy mommies who don't have time to create, but would like their children and themselves looking glammy and fabulous! .
I LOVE EVERY MINUTE OF IT!!! Thank you for allowing me to be creative and to make pretty little things for you, your pretty little kids, and babies! .
I am a very happy girl because I'm doing what I like to do best- creating and designing!.
