Detailed description is Bandar Udara Silangit adalah bandar udara yang terletak di Siborong-borong - Tapanuli Utara, Sumatera Utara. Bandar udara ini memiliki ukuran landas pacu 2.400 m x 30 m. Jarak dari pusat kota sekitar 7 km.SejarahBandar Udara Silangit dibangun pada masa penjajahan Jepang. Pembangunan kembali bandara ini mulai dilakukan sejak tahun 1995 dengan menambah landas pacu sepanjang 900 meter sehingga menjadi 1.400 meter. Pada Maret 2005, Presiden Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono meresmikan langsung pengoperasian Bandara Silangit, sejak saat itu pembangunan Bandara pun mulai dilakukan dengan gencar. Pada tahun 2011, Bandara Silangit akhirnya memiliki landas pacu sepanjang 2.400 meter dan direncanakan pada tahun 2015 akan diperpanjang kembali menjadi, sehingga bisa didarati pesawat berbadan lebar secara reguler. Pada tanggal 18 Januari 2011, Bandara Silangit didatangi oleh Presiden RI beserta rombongan yang menggunakan pesawat Boeing 737-500. Dengan kedatangan Presiden tersebut, dinyatakanlah bahwa Bandara Silangit telah sanggup melayani pesawat sekelas A320, & B737 Next Generation, & MAX.Luas Terminal saat ini = 100 m2 (Terminal A) & 700 m2 (Terminal B), Fasilitas Navigasi = NDB, AFIS, PAPI & DVOR/DME, Fasilitas Keamanan Penerbangan = X-Ray Baggage, X-Ray Cabin, Walk-through Metal Detector & Handheld Metal Detector, Fasilitas Keselamatan Penerbangan = PKP-PK Type V, Gunebo & Ambulance, Fasilitas Listrik = Generator Set 25 & 125 KVA, Airfield Lighting System (AFL), Apron Light & Apron Flood Light, Fasiitas Terminal = Conveyor Belt, Timbangan Digital, Running Text, LCD Information, Fasilitas Peralatan = Wheel Tractor Rotary Mower, Hand Mower,.Dengan fasilitas dan kemampuan pelayanan yang dimilikinya, saat ini Bandara Silangit adalah satu-satunya bandara kelas IV yang memiliki fasilitas dan kemampuan setara bandara kelas II di Indonesia. Pada 14 Desember 2012, Pemerintah melalui Kementerian Perhubungan secara resmi menyerahkan operasional pengelolaan Bandara Silangit kepada PT Angkasa Pura II (Persero). Dengan demikian, status bandara ini secara otomatis berubah dari bandara UPT menjadi bandara komersial.
