Babies 2 Kids Learning Center

411 Hanover Rd SW

Linn,

Iowa,United-states - 52404

Detailed description is The child care is a State Registered Category B Child Development Home, is Nationally Accredited through NAFCC and is rated a 5 out of 5 on the States QRS.
I am a mother of two boys.
Daythan (age 9) & Bryce (age 18).
They are both considered special needs children (one has ADHD & ODD, the other has Sensory Integration Disorder-under stimulated).
I have been providing child care since 2007 as a non-registered provider and I became a registered provider in 2008.
The lower level of my home is used for the daycare with almost 750 square feet of exclusive daycare space with its own entrance/exit and my outdoor play area is completely fenced in (the upstairs is used for meals & napping rooms for older children)..
.
I have experienced both being a single mom (for 6 years) and now having a partner to share the parenting with.
Both of my children have been in daycare themselves, both in-home & centers.
So I feel I have a good understanding & background when it comes to understanding you, the parents, your schedules/lifestyles, your feelings about leaving your children in daycare & feel I can be a good fit in providing care for you & helping find resources that can possibly assist you..
.
I want to stress, that I am NOT a babysitter.
I am Early Childhood Professional and not only have first hand, hands-on experience since I have my own children, along with the experience of operating a child care, but have had extensive training in the early childhood education field, I have business degree, a Child Development Associate, an A.S.
in Early Childhood Education & a B.A.
in Early Childhood Education.
I will be continuing my education through the Masters program at Walden University starting in February 2016.
I am a trainer of early childhood/child care professional development training's and a Continuing Education instructor for Kirkwood Community College.
This is my career, not a part-time job or hobby.
So please treat me, my family & house with respect, follow all policies and realize that with the training I have taken & all the organizations I work with that I can be a great resource for you and your family..
.
I am a Category B registered child care provider with the State of Iowa and meet all guidelines set by the state.
This includes attending at least 12 hours of training each year and a full background investigation by the State of Iowa on myself and every member of my family that resides in my home (over the age of 14).
This also requires that I remain in compliance with the set guidelines at all times and that I am certified in 1st Aid and CPR.
Being a registered child care provider also requires that I am a mandatory reporter or child abuse, which means that I am required by the law to report any form of physical, sexual or emotional abuse of any child in my care..
.
I am also a Crisis Care Provider for CCR&R.
This means that I may take kids on a temporary basis whose families are in crisis (homeless, medical emergencies, drug/physical abuse, deaths, arrests, etc...)..
.
I accept children ages infant and older with my maximum capacity being 6 full-time children with 2 additional part-time & 4 school age children.
Of the 6 full-time and part-time children, only 4 can be under 24 months of age and of those 4, 3 of those can be younger than 18 months.
The State of Iowa's registration guidelines do not require me to include my own school aged children in the above totals..
.
I am a participant with the Child and Adult Care Food Program sponsored by HACAP.
The food program is a voluntary program and the requirements are intended to meet children's nutritional needs and promote a variety of foods.
The CACFP educates providers about nutrition and sanitation standards such as habits of cleanliness with food storage, food preparation, serving of meals and cleaning of eating area.
The CACFP must do at least 3 home meal inspections each year (at least 2 must be un-announced)..
.
I attend numerous training sessions sponsored by many child care associations so that I may provide the best possible care for your child.
I am an active participant with CCR&R (Child Care Resource & Referral) through HACAP which helps providers with training opportunities.
Along with helping find parents a list of child care providers..
.
I am a Trainer myself and train for local organizations (such as: HACAP, IFHCCA, CRAEYC and CRFHCCA) and am also a Continuing Education Instructor for Kirkwood Community College..
.
I am a Honorary PACES to Quality Provider.
This is a free voluntary program that provides free training opportunities, helps assist in daycare questions, activities & set-up of your daycare and does home visits.
To stay current as a PACES Provider, I must meet all the requirements (provide care in Linn County, Accept children ages birth-5 years, be willing to accept kids on Child Care Assistance (CCA), operate at least 30 hours a week, maintain/abide & take all required training for my Iowa Daycare Registration, participate in Child/Adult Care Food Program (CACFP), be ChildNet Certified, pass an in-home inspection and have monthly home visits for 1 year-quarterly after that) I must also maintain my ChildNet Certification, participate in quarterly PACES visits, participate in the PACES Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale (FCCERS) Project.
.
.
I am voluntarily registered with the Iowa Quality Rating System (QRS).
I am currently a Level 5 out of 5 QRS Provider.
This is a child development home rating system that was established to increase the quality of child care in Iowa and to educate parents and providers.
The requirements go above & beyond those that DHS sets and by being a member of the QRS program demonstrates that I am dedicated to providing quality care by attending additional training and by working on goals for my program..
.
I am also ChildNet Certified with the State of Iowa.
This is a voluntary program that helps providers develop knowledge of best practices relevant to early childhood care and small business practices.
The program requires 25 hours of initial training hours, that you be a registered home provider (and be up-to-date with all DHS requirements), participate in the CACFP, maintain daycare liability insurance and have a home inspection for compliance of DHS and ChildNet guidelines.
This certification must be maintained every 2 years by attending a total of 32 hours of training, maintaining compliance of DHS and ChildNet guidelines and completing a home inspection every 2 years..
.
I am SafeServ Certified (as of 7/24/2013)..
.
I am Medication Administration Certified (as of 5/09/2014)..
.
I am Eco Healthy Child Care Endorsed (as of 3/15/20160..
.
I am Nature Explore Certified (as of 8/22/16).
.
I have also completed IA PITC (Iowa's Program for Infant & Toddler Care).
This is a program that consists of 5 Modules (each containing 5 lessons, so 25 lessons total) Social-Emotional Growth & Socialization, Group Care, Learning & Development, Culture, Family, and Providers and Beginning Together.
To complete this program you have to complete all 5 lessons within each Module (so it ends up being 50 hours of training) and complete 2 in-home visits done by a PITC representative..
.
I have also completed the FCCERS Program (Family Child Care Environment Rating Scale) and my current child care FCCERS rating is a 6.3 out of 7 on the FCCERS Rating Scale.
(as of April 2014).
.
I obtained my CDA (Child Development Associate) in 2010 & became Nationally Accredited through NAFCC in 2011 and earned my Associate of Science Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2012.
Earned a Bacehlors of Arts in Early Childhood Education in December of 2015.I am currently working on a Masters in Early Childhood Education: Teaching & Diversity.
Again, all voluntary programs..
.
We do have 3 pets (all dogs) & the daycare is a smoke free environment (Per Iowa law, all daycare's are to be smoke free as of July 2008), we also have smoke detectors in all rooms & hallways (except for bathrooms), have fire extinguishers on each floor, have a carbon monoxide detector, had a complete lead inspection done on 7/12/10 and passed the inspection, had a official fire inspection done by the fire marshall on 7/12/10 and had a passing radon inspection on 7/23/10.
