Aydın il merkezinde 1923 yılında Aydınspor adı altında kulüp kurulmuştur. . 23 Şubat 1966 Yılında Aydın Bölgesi Mahalli Lig şampiyonu olan Aydınspor . 2.lige girmek için Futbol Federasyonuna müracaat etmiş, Futbol Federasyonu . 04 Mart 1966 yılında Aydınsporun 2.lige girişini onaylamıştır. . Akınspor, Esnafspor ve Hilalspor kendilerini fesh ederek Aydınspora katılmışlardır. 12 Haziran 1966 tarihinde 4 kulübün birleşmesinden dolayı Aydınsporun simgesi . 4 yapraklı yonca olarak belirlenmiş forma rengide dağlarındaki zeytinden siyahı, ovasındaki pamuktan beyazı alarak siyah-beyaz olarak saptanmıştır. . Efeler Diyarının takımı olduğu içinde ünvanı "Zeybekler" olmuştur. . 16.06.1966 tarihinde 16 takımlı kırmızı grupta profesyonel mücadeleye başlamış, . ilk resmi maçınıda Beykozsporla yapmıştır. İlk teknik çalıştırıcılığını Yugoslav Yordonevski Boris getirilmiştir.İlk resmi maçtaki kadrosunda; Ekrem, Tahsin, İsmail, Cemal, Oktay, Burhan, Vural, Savaş, Cihat, İrfan ve Musa yeralmışlardır. . 1966 tarihinden itibaren profesyonel liglerde mücadele eden Aydınspor . her takım için güçlü bir rakip olmuştur. Öyle ki 1975/1976 sezonunda şampiyonluğu kıl payı Samsunspora kaptırmıştır. Bu başarılı grafiğine rağmen düşüşler yaşadığı zamanlar da olmuş, örneğin 1983/1984 sezonunda 3.lige düşmüştür.. 1984/1985 sezonunda tekrar 2.lige terfi eden Zeybekler 1989/1990 sezonunda 1.lige yükselmiş ve o sezonda 1.ligde Ege Bölgesinin tek temsilcisi olmuştur. Fenerbahce SK nin aldigi en farkli yenilgi AYDINSPORdan 6-1 dir.. O dönem Kulüp Başkanlığını Mukan Perinçek'in yaptığı Aydınsporu 1.lige çıkaran takım kadrosunda; Teknik Direktör Necdet Zorluer, Antrenör İlyas Lafçı, oyuncular; Eser, Feridun, Erdal, Şenol, Hayrettin, Önder, Zeki, Erhan, Talip, Murat, Faruk, Necmettin, Hikmet, Gazi, Zafer, Mehmet Anbarlı, Adnan, Sabri, Ökkeş, Ali isimler yer almış ve bu isimler Aydınsporun tarihine altın harflerle geçmişlerdir.. . Aydınspor 1.lige yükseldiğinde gelip geçici olmadığını; idari-teknik kadrosuyla, takım kadrosuyla, yerel yöneticileriyle ve takımını uzak-yakın, yaz-kış demeden destekleyen vefakar, cefakar seyircisiyle göstermiştir. 3 yıl 1.ligde kalma başarısını gösteren Aydınspor bu süre içersinde hafızalardan silinmeyen sonuçlar elde etmenin yanı sıra 1991/1992 sezonunda ligi ilk 5 takım arasında tamamla başarısını göstermiştir.. . .
