Automatiek Speciaal, beter bekend als Patat Haarms is in 1947 opgericht door Harms en Nieman. Hoewel de naam dus dateert uit 1947, werd deze al snel in de volksmond omgevormd tot Patat Haarms. De heren Harms en Nieman waren de eersten die de patat, oftewel de aardappelstengel, introduceerden. Destijds kon men een tippuutje patat kopen voor niet meer dan een kwartje! Harms en Nieman startten zelfs een eigen fabriekje in voorgebakken patat. Hiervoor werd het pand van schilder Voorthuis aangekocht, welke nu beter bekend is als muziekcafé ’t Pleintje. In 1975 deed Harms de zaak over aan Karssien Tammenga, die op zijn beurt in 1989 werd opgevolgd door dochter Agnes en haar echtgenoot Jan.. . Wij bakken alle producten in vloeibare, plantaardige olie van zeer hoogwaardige kwaliteit en zijn hierdoor in het bezit van een certificaat voor ‘verantwoord frituren’. Tevens staan wij bekend om ons heerlijk romige softijs, dat het hele jaar verkrijgbaar is! En wie kent ons nu niet van de milkshakes met vers fruit. Wat is er nu lekkerder dan een aardbei-milkshake met echte aardbeien! Dat geeft een smaak waarin je de zomer proeven kan! En met keuze uit meer dan 8 smaken is er altijd voor ieder wat wils! Voor de liefhebbers hebben we zelfs de ijscoffee-shake.
