Dance Marathon at Augustana College, founded in 2001, sponsors an annual event to benefit the University of Iowa Children's Hospital in Iowa City, IA called VIKATHON. As the largest student-run philanthropic event during the school year, over 250 students and faculty stay on their feet to raise money and awareness for the Children's Miracle Network and to celebrate the lives of the wonderful children we work to support. Musicians, performers, and most importantly, miracle families (families who have overcome a child's illness, families who are continuing the fight against their child's illness, and those who have lost a child to their illness) come to inspire the neon- dressed student dancers during this exhilarating event.. .
