Más de uno se ha preguntado –y nos ha preguntado– por qué Alumni es “Asociación”, y no Rugby Club, Athletic Club, o simplemente “Club”.

Nuestro ilustre antecesor, el club Alumni de fútbol, existió entre 1901 y 1911.
Algunos años después se formó la Asociación Alumni, destinada a nuclear a los ex–alumnos del English High School, el colegio del que había surgido el famoso equipo.
Esta entidad tenía un objetivo meramente social, y no realizaba actividad deportiva alguna..
Esto siguió sin cambios hasta 1951, en que se solicitó a su Comisión Directiva autorización para comenzar con una Sección Juvenil.
Cuyos fines todos conocemos, porque han permanecido exactamente igual..

De manera que nuestra institución nació, y continuó siéndolo de manera formal, como Sección Juvenil de la Asociación Alumni.
En el año 1956, sin haber tenido nunca ni contactos ni visitas a ver partidos, ni la menor noticia de sus directivos, ante el deseo de no desaparecer y a falta de una idea mejor, se produce la temeridad de gestionar la afiliación a la Unión.
Y se hace bajo el nombre de Asociación Juvenil Alumni.
Afiliación concedida de inmediato, dicho sea de paso.
No existe en la historia de la Unión un club que lo haya logrado con menos estructura o recursos materiales.
Así continuamos hasta 1959.
Y siempre sin noticias de nuestro antecesor.
Al año siguiente, cuando se decide iniciar el camino del ascenso, anotando un equipo en Tercera División, se realiza el trámite cambiando la denominación.
Justificadamente, porque ya dejábamos de ser Juveniles.
Y desde entonces somos nosotros la Asociación Alumni.
