Fosters creative leadership and implemements innovative initiatives in public health, leadership, arts and human rights.
Three programs, MAKE ART/STOP AIDS, Students with Dreams and Umunthu, are the core of the Art and Global Health Center.

MAKE ART/STOP AIDS brings together People Living with HIV/AIDS, artists, and other members of the community to collaboratively create performance interventions that address issues of stigma, fear, prevention, testing and treatment, culminating in the creation and execution of community action plans.

Students With Dreams, developed by university students, empowers young leaders to create and implement innovative programs in response to challenges they see in society, such as: gender inequality, education, human rights, and HIV/AIDS.
As a model, what is unique about Students With Dreams, is that it is based on cooperation amongst students.
Students mentor and support one another as initiatives grow from seed to fruition.

The Art & Global Health Center Africa was founded in 2011, in response to the success of projects pursued in South Africa and Malawi.
The overall goal of the Art & Global Health Center Africa is to educate, mobilize, inspire, and encourage dialogue through arts interventions in African universities and in rural and urban poor communities throughout the South-East Africa region.
The program relies on collaborative relationships with local, regional, and international organizations operating in each project country..

The first project in Malawi was carried out in 2008 by Dr.
Galia Boneh and Iddi Saaka through the UCLA Program in Global Health.
In 2011, Dr.
Boneh returned to Malawi as a Fulbright Scholar at Chancellor College and, assisted by Sharifa Abdullah, headed three projects: the MAKE ART/STOP AIDS University course, MAKE ART/STOP AIDS Project and Students With Dreams, from which the Umunthu program was born.
In 2013 AGHCA registered as a non-profit organization in Malawi, co-directed by Galia Boneh and Sharifa Abdulla.
