Detailed description is We have farm-raised, fresh eggs for sale in brown, white and green.
We feed our chickens lots of greens and NO hormones and NO antibiotics.
We sell eggs from our home on Apple Road and at the Webb City Farmer's Market.
Our eggs are also available at the Almond Tree health food store in Diamond, MO.

My husband bought my first 19 baby chicks for me in February of 2010 so we could supply our large family with yummy, home-grown eggs.
Unfortunately, about half of those first babies died within a few days.
So, after researching different chicken breeds and deciding which ones would be best for us, I called Cackle Hatchery in Lebanon, MO and ordered more baby chicks.
This time, I thought, I would order more than I thought I would need just in case something terrible happened again.
All of those cute little fluffballs were strong and healthy and LIVED! .

When my baby chicks grew into big pullets and started laying eggs, I couldn't use all we had or even give all of them away.
So, I called the Webb City Farmer's Market and started selling my extra eggs.
The colored eggs were so popular that I was selling out most days in the first 30 minutes! So, in August of 2011, I ordered 24 more pullets from Ideal Poultry in Texas.
Now all my lovely ladies are laying eggs.
Hopefully we will have enought to meet the demand at the market this year.

This is a hard question because the "legal" definition of "free range" does not meet my personal definition of the term.
The best way for anyone to understand the secure freedom we allow our birds is to simply describe our enclosure and daily routine.
My chickens have a chicken house in the middle double-fenced yard with bird netting over the top to keep them safe and secure from all kinds of predators.
They are locked inside this safe enclosure every night and in the mornings until mid-afternoon.
In the afternoon, we go outside and let the chickens out to roam anywhere they wish in our yard and orchard.
We do shut the driveway gate and there is fence to keep them from going into the road.
My son, Caleb, and I stay with them every minute they are out of the pen, to protect them from any neighborhood dogs that might be roaming around.
The birds put themselves to bed at dusk and we shut and lock the chicken yard door.
We also count all the birds every night to make sure noone got locked out! If we have a day that our schedule or the weather conflicts with letting the birds out, we gather greens and weeds to give to them in their pen.

Because our chickens consume large amounts of green plants, their eggs have large, golden-yellow yolks that are rich in lots of vitamins and minerals, and they lend that beautiful golden color to puddings and baked goods made with them!
