Detailed description is A APAE de Salto foi fundada em 08 de Maio de 1970, após iniciativa de um grupo de pais de deficientes intelectuais. A APAE de Salto foi fundada em 08 de Maio de 1970, após iniciativa de um grupo de pais de deficientes intelectuais, em reunião no Centro Comunitário da cidade, com o auxílio do Monsenhor Mário Negro, Padre da Igreja Matriz Nossa Senhora do Monte Serrat.. Os deficientes intelectuais passaram a receber atendimento terapêutico e assistência escolar, inicialmente, na Rua Prudente de Moraes, 537, no Centro da Cidade, em uma sala cedida pela Prefeitura Municipal.. Em 1974, a Prefeitura Municipal de Salto, cedeu à entidade um terreno, para que a mesma pudesse construir uma sede própria e filiar-se à Federação Nacional das APAEs, a fim de funcionar nos mesmos parâmetros da referida federação.. Em 1976 iniciou-se a construção da Sede Escola da Instituição, que já atendia 35 pessoas portadoras de deficiência intelectual, sendo inaugurada em 11 de Outubro de 1980.. A concepção filosófica do desenvolvimento da APAE de Salto esteve, desde o seu início, voltada à defesa de direitos, à participação das famílias e dos próprios deficientes intelectuais, bem como à prestação de serviços.. Durante todos esses anos procuramos desenvolver um trabalho em prol da pessoa com deficiência intelectual e múltipla, visando sua autonomia, desenvolvimento e sua integração à vida comunitária.
