Nakahara foi incentivado pelo pai e pela irmã que já treinavam karatê, e também pela mãe que lhe aconselhou a treinar para que criasse mais disciplina..
Iniciou seus treinos na academia Furlan, sem a pretensão de se tornar profissional, porém seu mestre o encaminhou para disputar campeonatos.
Perdeu sua primeira luta e pensou em desistir do esporte, mas incentivado por Furlan venceu a luta seguinte, e conseguintemente foi subindo de faixa no karatê..
Com o passar do tempo, sua rotina tornou-se corrida: o atleta trabalhava em uma metalúrgica, ia para o treino, seguia para a faculdade e voltava para a academia para treinar musculação.
Em 2005 Andrews resolveu desistir de lutar devido à rotina de treinos e a falta de retorno financeiro, porém recebeu o convite do mestre Francisco Filho para lutar, administrar e ser professor em sua academia (Ichigeki) na cidade de Bragança..
Em sua nova empreitada o atleta começou a lutar outras modalidades além do karatê: kickboxing, muay thai e jiu jitsu..
Em 2009 Andrews interessou-se pelo MMA por ser um esporte que poderia lhe trazer retorno financeiro e maior reconhecimento..
Sua primeira luta em MMA marcou a memória do atleta, pois além de ser sua 1° experiência como profissional, foi com o competidor favorito do GP (Kazushi Sakuraba).
Nakahara nunca havia visto um público tão grande, o combate durou 9 minutos e Kazushi saiu vitorioso..
Hoje em dia Nakahara luta na categoria até 77 kg, e está em fase de preparação para entrar no UFC.
