Anchor of Hope is a non-profit organization and our mission is, to provide an awareness of the importance of self esteem within the community.. . Anchor of Hope seeks to increase within the community, through education and information, the resources to build one another up, to encourage and support those who need it most.. . What do we do?. . Self-Esteem Program - “SHINE” . Shine is a development program creating an environment for practical inspiration and forming personal values and self-awareness. The program is formatted in eight sessions and is flexible in delivery. Mostly run in schools, it is conducted through one session per week for girls aged between 12-14. SHINE teaches the girls about skincare, makeup, grooming, dealing with emotions, confidence and how to handle bullying. . . Anchor of Hope inspires to teach youth, about self awareness, self confidence, self worth and self acceptance. We strive to teach our youth about respecting themselves, looking after their body and soul and being proud of who they are.. . Youth Weekends. The Youth weekends are usually programmed within 3 months of finishing a Shine Program. They are a follow up with the students who completed the program the previous term.. . Mentoring. On completion of any of the ANCHOR OF HOPE programs we will then place particular at risk students in a mentoring program. Basically these are caring people within the community that have been through a training course and have a compassion and desire to work alongside youth.. . Parents Support Program. We organize support groups and education nights for subjects on self-esteem, drugs, eating disorders, addictions in general. Guest speakers from various services will cover the appropriate topics.. . Individual Counseling. We provide counseling through Heart Felt Health in Tuncurry. Whether it be individual, mediation, or group counseling. Our aim is to keep our waiting lists to a minimum and help individuals develop the self belief they need and bring families back together.. . . Anti Bullying Program**. What more can I say. Bullying is rampant in our society, there is such a desperate need to teach respect of one another and above all respect for ourselves, so we can learn to respect other. Bullying is out of control, with 1 in every 4 students being a victim.
