Yeager Post in Nassau, NY 12123.. As one of America’s veterans service organizations, AMVETS (American Veterans) has a proud history of assisting veterans and their families.. . We started meeting just two years ago at the Chandler Young VFW Post 8162 building just one mile east of the village of Nassau at the corner of U.S. Route 20 and Lyons Lake Road. Our first organizing meeting was July 10, 2012. We now have more than 50 members and are growing steadily.. . We are organizing events that include both the VFW and American Legion members of Nassau. With a united veterans effort, we expect to continue the support of our veterans and their families. The banner picture shows our ceremony this last Flag Day. You can see members of all three organizations making this a very moving ceremony for the Nassau community.. Mission. . To enhance and safeguard the entitlements for all American Veterans who have served honorably and to improve the quality of life for them, their families, and the communities where they live through leadership, advocacy and services.. .
