Das Amt liegt im Nordosten des Landkreises Uckermark und im äußersten Nordosten Brandenburgs. Es grenzt an den Landkreis Vorpommern-Greifswald in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.Gemeinden und Ortsteile Brüssow (Stadt) mit den Ortsteilen Bagemühl, Battin, Butterholz, Frauenhagen, Grimme, Grünberg, Hammelstall, Klausthal, Menkin, Moor, Petersruh, Stramehl, Trampe, Woddow und Wollschow Carmzow-Wallmow mit den Ortsteilen Carmzow, Cremzow, Hedwigshof, Wallmow und Wendtshof Göritz mit den Ortsteilen Malchow und Tornow (ab 1. November 2001 vom Amt Prenzlau-Land) Schenkenberg mit den Ortsteilen Dauerthal, Kleptow, Ludwigsburg und Wittenhof (ab 1. November 2001 vom Amt Prenzlau-Land) Schönfeld mit den Ortsteilen Karlshof, Klockow und NeuenfeldGeschichteAm 21. August 1992 erteilte der Minister des Innern des Landes Brandenburg seine Zustimmung zur Bildung des Amtes Brüssow mit Sitz in der Stadt Brüssow. Als Zeitpunkt des Zustandekommens des Amtes wurde der 1. August 1992 festgelegt. Zum Zeitpunkt der Gründung umfasste das Amt neun Gemeinden des damaligen Kreises Prenzlau (heute Landkreis Uckermark):
