Detailed description is The Alabama Master Naturalist program is a statewide program whose goal is to help promote awareness, understanding, and respect of Alabama’s natural world among Alabama’s citizens and visitors.
In addition, the AMN program will also develop a statewide corps of well-informed volunteers providing education, outreach, and service dedicated to the beneficial management of natural resources and natural areas within their communities..

It may take up to a year to become a fully certified Alabama Master Naturalist.
A participant starts by completing a 40-hour basic training course that is offered through Extension and partner organizations.
Once the basic training is completed, 40 hours of volunteer service are required to beome a certified Alabama Master Naturalist.
Once these requirements are completed, participants must also complete a minimum of 8 hours of advanced certification training per year and 30 hours of volunteer service per year to retain their AMN Certification.
