Academia San José se fundó en 1950 por las Hermanas de la Orden Saint Dominic, de Newburgh, NY, a petición del Monseñor Félix Ríos, Pastor de la Parroquia San José de Villa Caparra en Guaynabo, Puerto Rico.
La Escuela Superior abrió en 1956 como un colegio de preparación universitaria, utlilizando el inglés como idioma de enseñanza, tradición que continúa al día de hoy.
La primera clase de 27 estudiantes se graduó en mayo de 1960..

Hoy en día, la Academia San José se compone de una escuela Elemental co-ed, desde 1er grado hasta 6to grado.
También contamos con Escuela Superior para niñas de 7mo hasta 12mo grado..

Nuestros varones egresados son aceptados en las mejores escuelas superiores co-ed y de varones en Puerto Rico.
Además de nuestras estudiantes de la escuela Elemental, la Escuela Superior matricula estudiantes de escuelas de alto calibre de todo Puerto Rico.
