The founders Tony and Voula came to Newport, Rhode Island in 1976 with their three children and decided to open up a pizza place. They introduced Greek style pan pizza and the popular Greek sandwich "The Gyro". A-1 has won numerous awards, including the "Best Pizza" from Newport Life magazine and the Newport Mercury. A-1 has also been voted Best Greek Style Pizza by Rhode Island Monthly Magazine and just recently received an award for customer satisfaction. Now going into their third generation A-1 and its dedicated staff provides great specialties and warm friendly service to all their valued customers.
