Detailed description is 金沢21世紀美術館（かなざわにじゅういちせいきびじゅつかん）は、石川県金沢市広坂にある現代美術を収蔵した美術館。愛称はまるびぃ（由来は「丸い美術館」）であるが、一般的には「21美（にじゅういちび）」と呼ばれることが多い。もと金沢大学附属中学校・小学校・幼稚園があった場所に、2004年10月9日に開館した。観光客の多く立ち寄る兼六園の真弓坂口の斜め向かいに当たり、金沢城を復元中の金沢城公園の入口からも近い。繁華街の香林坊や片町からも徒歩圏内にある、市の中心部に立地した都心型の美術館。周囲には金沢能楽美術館、石川近代文学館、石川県立美術館、石川県立歴史博物館などテーマの異なる芸術関連施設があり、文化ゾーンを形成している。建築建物は地上1階、地下1階建て。芝生の敷地中央にあり、円形（直径112.5m）総ガラス張りで正面といえる面がなく、逆に言えばすべてが正面といえる。兼六園方面、香林坊方面、柿木畠方面などの方向からも入場できる上に、無料入場できる範囲を広く取っており、多数の作品を無料で鑑賞することができる（有料エリアは中央の正方形状の部分であり、入口は兼六園側になっている）。各展示室は現代美術の展示に適した白い壁面の空間（ホワイトキューブ）であり、個々の展示室はそれぞれ独立した立方体として円形の館内に配置されている。このため一応展覧会ごとに順路は決められているものの、鑑賞者はどれでも好きな展示室からランダムに見ていくことが可能であるとされている。 建築設計競技で選ばれた設計者の妹島和世と西沢立衛(SANAA)は、開館後に実際に展示を行う学芸員より、世界中の美術館の展示室をモデルに正方形や長方形、円形などさまざまなタイプの理想的な展示室の提案を受けた。それらの展示室を集落のようにおのおの独立させて配置し、天井と円形のガラスの外壁とで覆っている。
