Mr. Jim Keller had great vision and a passion for golf when he decided to turn a tree orchard on the edge of the national forest into a championship designed golf course. Rolling hills, challenging left and right movement throughout, water hazards which will leave you trying to decide to lay up or go for it! The course in its prime was a pinnacle in the region, hosting the High School Girls Championships, and many other events.. . Sadly after his passing the passion for the course and the sport was hard to replace, and while his family carried on his legacy as long as possible the course eventually fell into disrepair and loss of high customer service. The fairways and greens fell to the natural forces of dieses and aggressive weed types. The beauty of the course was slowly being taken over by the natural forest and untamed land that surrounds it.. . Meanwhile in Iowa, a golf family with over 50 years of experience in the industry, a senior PGA member and his son were searching for their family’s final project. Managing the operations of everything from 9-hole municipal to champion 36-hole private country clubs, their golf school Woods to Wedges, the Chrzan family decided it was time for them to create their own long lasting legacy. Searching for over four years for the right course, area, climate and atmosphere, they stopped by Stone Creek Golf Course on their way back home from viewing another course just a couple days before. Instantly they fell in love with the area, the people, and most importantly the impressive layout of Stone Creek.. . They started the process to purchase the course. While this took over a year to initialize, maintain, and eventually complete, the time has finally come to announce what everyone in the region has been waiting to find out.
