Prabudass Krishnan was unable to log in enough training hours for an international marathon, due to a viral fever infection, just weeks before the event.
But the national runner rose above the challenges and broke his own half marathon national record at the Hokkaido-Sapporo Marathon Festival 2021 in Japan on May 5.

The governors of nine Japanese prefectures believe the Tokyo Olympic Games should be postponed again or cancelled outright if the present surge in coronavirus cases cannot be brought under control.
The Mainichi newspaper interviewed the governors of all 47 Japanese prefectures, with nine local leaders saying that scrapping the Games should be an option if the safety of athletes, spectators and members of the public could not be guaranteed.

SAPPORO Residents here were told to stay home while others were urged to stay away from the city.
But such precautions against the resurgent spread of the novel coronavirus in Sapporo did not deter Tokyo Olympic organizers from holding a rehearsal event that brought more than 2,000 people to the central streets of the city on May 5.
The Hokkaido-Sapporo Marathon Festival 2021 was held amid heavy security, as well as stricter anti-virus measures, at least for residents and businesses in the Hokkaido capital.
