Govt fails to fully utilise rupee component of PSDP July 27, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The government has failed to fully utilise the rupee component of its Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), and its consumption of the funds stood at Rs551.4 billion against an allocated amount of Rs577 billion during fiscal year 2020-21. Different ministries/divisions and attached departments could not use the whole allocation, and fell short of Rs26.4 billion. This was compensated by foreign aid, as Islamabad received a larger amount. Therefore, the foreign aid was utilised more in order to show utilisation of funds to the tune of Rs650 billion for the last financial year. The utilisation of the whole PSDP amount stood at Rs651.4 billion during fiscal year 2020-21, against allocated funds of Rs650 billion.

Photo courtesy PAC website ISLAMABAD: The Planning Commission has expressed its inability to “rein in” the National Logistics Cell (NLC) and suggested the cabinet division place it under control of the communications ministry. Hamed Yaqoob Sheikh, the secretary to the commission, informed the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) recently that the NLC was beyond the control of his ministry as “they do not share details even about audit-related paras in meetings of the departmental accounts committee (DAC)”. The PAC noted that almost all the audit paras were left untouched in the DAC meetings and advised the NLC, its auditors and the secretary to the Planning Commission to examine these in the coming DAC meeting.

July 15, 2021 LAHORE: Former commissioner Rawalpindi and project director Rawalpindi Ring Road project, Muhammad Mahmood and land acquisition collector Abbas Tabish have been arrested and a case has been registered in connection with the irregularities in Rawalpindi Ring Road. Former SAPM Zulfi Bukhari and Minister for Aviation Ghulam Sarwar Khan have apparently got clean chit in the investigation. This was said by Anti-Corruption Punjab Director General Gohar Nafees at a press conference Wednesday on completion of investigation report into Pindi Ring Road irregularities case. The initial report has been shared with Prime Minister Imran Khan. Sharing the details of the inquiry with media, he said former commissioner Rawalpindi Muhammad Mahmood changed the alignment of the Ring Road which was approved by the then government in 2018, which increased the cost of the project and also the price of land.
