Wallace Lee Starwalt
Wallace Lee Starwalt of Dunkirk, N.Y. passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, March 12 with his wife, daughter, and three granddaughters by his side.
Born on Dec. 1, 1929 in Coles County, Illinois, Wallace was the son of the late Frank and Clarissa (Carpenter) Starwalt. He had a younger brother, Philip Dean, and an unborn sibling who both perished in a tragic house fire in 1938 along with his mother.
He attended rural schools until the 8th grade, and then Hindsboro Elementary & High School, where he graduated as Salutatorian, Class of 1947. Wallace continued to keep in touch with his classmates via phone conversations, Facebook, and E-mails. Having attended his 70th HS reunion in Arcola, I.L. in July of 2017, he was looking forward to seeing cherished friends again at the 75th reunion, to be held in July of 2022.

James M. “Jimmy” Wuerstle, age 65, of King St., Dunkirk, died peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 as a result of complications from COVID-19. He was born in Dunkirk on December 1, 1955, son of the late Catherine (McCraith) Wuerstle and James Wuerstle.
James was a 1974 graduate of Cardinal Mindszenty High School. He earned a BA in Fine Arts from SUNY Fredonia and studied at Gannon University to become an x-ray technician and ultrasound technician.
Jimmy will be remembered as a prolific artist, an avid Harley rider, and a passionate NRA member. He was a member of many clubs, including the Fredonia Beaver Club, the Dunkirk Conservation Club and the Dunkirk Falcons. He was also a member of two local gun clubs, South Shore Rod and Gun and Hanover Fish and Game, where he earned the nickname, “Doc Holiday”.
