Susan Shelton knows her way around a bronze cast.
Between work on bronze seals on campus at UC Davis, for former California First Lady Maria Shriver’s Minerva Awards and the Spanish-Mexican Seal that punctuates the West Steps of the state Capitol building in Sacramento, Shelton’s spent a fair amount of her career as an artist hunkered over shining masterpieces.
Her latest creation, however, will soon be visible in downtown Davis.

Student board announces 2021 marshals
UC Davis’ 2021 Picnic Day event, scheduled for Apr. 17, will have the theme “Discovering Silver Linings” and will feature Dr. Lawrence Torry Winn and Maisha T. Winn as its marshals, Picnic Day Publicity Director Alexis Tornero announced Friday in a press release.
For the second year running, the annual event will be held virtually in 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic, Tornero announced last month.
