Mrs. Betty Hartley Nale age 97, of Lewistown, PA. passed away early Saturday morning, January 9th 2021.
She was born July 5th, 1923 to the late J. Irvin Hartley and Gertrude M. Stumpff in Maitland, PA.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Robert L. Nale. Also preceding her in death were three brothers- Howard Hartley, Clair Hartley, Ray Hartley; and two sisters Sara Bell and Louise Millhouse. Betty was the last surviving family member of the original Hartley’s Potato Chip Company.
Her final years and moments were spent living independently in her modest home. Betty and her husband Bob raised their three daughters while living on Electric Avenue for 37 years together. Betty was a true depression-era child whose habits and ways extended thru her entire life. She recalled selling bags of potato chips door to door with her father at the young age of 12. For many years after Hartley’s Potato Chips expanded she worked in the factory to help the family
