Mansfield Looks To Reinvigorate Downtown District With New Development Project
MANSFIELD, Texas The City of Mansfield is set to begin a transformative mixed-use development project in Historic Downtown Mansfield that will reinvigorate the district and catalyze future development.
The development – in collaboration with Hoque Global, a Dallas-based investment firm – will bring residential, retail, recreational, office and parking space to four acres of land along Smith and Elm streets in Historic Downtown Mansfield. Also planned are an innovation center that will foster and encourage entrepreneurial endeavors in the heart of Mansfield and an above-ground parking garage near Smith and Depot streets. Furthermore, the development will enhance the walkability of the neighborhood to expand its accessibility and promote passive activation from the Pond Branch Linear Park trail.

Earlier this month, over 50 candidates in 14 contested Dallas City Council races had to file their latest campaign finance reports, documenting their fundraising and spending over the last several months.
The Dallas Morning News has hit on some of the bigger takeaways from these records. Almost $900,000 has been pumped into contests that will determine the makeup of the city council, with Mayor Eric Johnson spared from having to run for re-election until 2023. Big-name donors who have previously backed the mayor are now supporting challenges to three incumbent city council members who voted against Johnson last fall in a battle over police overtime funding a sign that public safety concerns (and the mayor’s strained relationships with many of his colleagues) are driving forces this election

Still struggling to recover from a pandemic that turned parts of downtown Dallas into a ghost town, center city proponents are looking to the future.
Major real estate projects and public sector improvements were the focus of economic development group Downtown Dallas Inc.’s annual meeting Tuesday.
“We cannot deny the impact of the last year, the challenges particularly faced by our small businesses and our quieter streets,” said Downtown Dallas Inc. CEO Kourtny Garrett. “Four billion dollars of development continues to move forward. Cranes are still flying high over downtown Dallas.”
