Jim Jones, the longtime organizer of an annual kids’ fishing derby at Mitchell Park in Greenfield, is pictured speaking to council members at their meeting Tuesday. (HCP Photo/Caitlin Forsha) Hillsboro Mayor Justin Harsha proclaimed the month of May as Buddy Poppy Month, Monday morning in the Hillsboro City Building.
Accepting the proclamation on behalf of VFW Post 9094 were Dwight Reynolds and Rick Wilkin.
According to the proclamation, “The annual sale of Buddy Poppies by the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States has been officially recognized and endorsed by the governmental leaders since 1922.”
