Last time we checked, there was a global ban on Russian flags regarding sporting events, courtesy of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). Now, while Haas’ new livery doesn’t feature any flags per se, its theme appears to be inspired by the colors of said flag, instead of the United States’ red, white and blue, judging by the actual color placement. 7 photos
Team principal Guenther Steiner told Autosport that the design of the livery dates back to last year before it got out that WADA’s sporting ban involving Russia also extended to Formula 1.
However, if that’s true, then the team having a Russian company (Uralkali) as their main title sponsor and the car looking like a fast Russian flag on wheels is pretty much this year’s biggest coincidence. That company also happens to be owned by the Russian father (Dmitri Mazepin) of Haas’ new Russian driver (Nikita Mazepin). Funny how these things play out.

Haas F1 Team principal Guenther Steiner says it s time for detractors to quit piling on Haas recruit Nikita Mazepin.
Steiner also said it s time for his young driver to grow up.
The 21-year-old rookie Mazepin, already a controversial figure from his days in Formula 2, drew the ire of many in the world of social media last month when video emerged of him allegedly groping a female friend. Some fans and members of the sport s media are still calling on Haas to oust the Russian, whose wealthy father Dmitry is believed to be bringing millions of dollars to the American team.

Mick Schumacher joins Nikita Mazepin in an all-rookie lineup for the Haas F1 Team in Formula 1 in 2021.
A Ferrari Academy driver, it is expected that Schumacher will likely be considered for a seat at Ferrari s senior team with a year or two.
Schumacher won the Formula 2 championship in 2020.
Admittedly, it can be hard to get past Mick Schumacher s name.
