BOSSES at Whitehaven RL will look for 80 minutes of focused play and cohesion on Sunday when the Coach Road side clash with Halifax Panthers. Whitehaven picked up a second straight win against Swinton Lions at the weekend but coaches at the LEL Arena would still like to see some improvement in their squad’s performances. Haven put in a strong performance against Swinton but the tide almost turned when the visitors scored three consecutive tries. Head coach Gary Charlton said: “I think we’re inconsistent – we’re either very good and switch focus or very poor. “If we put a full 80 minutes together we compete with some of these teams.

Roughyeds win a thriller 16-12 Date published: 02 May 2021
Again, Oldham kept opponents scoreless in the second half
For the second home game in a row, an Oldham side that was full of verve, energy and self-belief kept opponents scoreless in the second half when beating Halifax Panthers 16-12 at Bower Fold.
In their last home game they scored 18 unanswered points after half-time to beat Swinton Lions 28-20.
This time, they trailed Fax 12-4 at the interval, but stormed back down the slope to win 16-12 with a winning try four minutes from the end by on-loan centre Jack Croft, goaled beautifully from wide out by full-back Callum Green, who had a blinder.
