Hortonville schools referendum: Voters pass $41 8M of facility upgrades

HORTONVILLE - Electors of the Hortonville Area School District resoundingly supported a $41.8 million referendum for a host of facility upgrades at the middle and high schools. That support didn t extend to both of the district s referendum questions, though. Voters narrowly rejected the second question, which asked for the authority to borrow $12.2 million for the construction of a multipurpose center at the high school. According to unofficial election results on Tuesday, the yes votes for the first question were 3,261 (65%), while no votes were 1,779 (35%). For the second question, 2,419 (48%) voted in favor, while 2,611 (52%) voted against. The results gave District Administrator Todd Timm mixed emotions. On one hand, he says he s disappointed the second referendum question didn t pass. On the other hand, Timm said, he s grateful for the high voter turnout and the overwhelming support for the first referendum question.
