Accidental artist/physician exhibits work at Huggins Hospital
April 28, 2021WOLFEBORO In cooperation with the Governor Wentworth Arts Council, award winning oil painter and Huggins Hospital gynecologist Debbie Mueller, MD, will be exhibiting her work at Huggins Hospital during the months of May and June.
While the exhibit is not open to the public, as visitation to the hospital remains limited, people can view a virtual show on Dr. Mueller s Web site at https://www.debbiemuellerart.com/collections/160580. A percentage of proceeds from any sales of artwork will support Huggins Hospital s employees through their Sunshine Fund.
Mueller s path to becoming an artist is surprising and unconventional. After a life of believing she had no artistic ability, she was visiting her parents in 2016 and during a dull, rainy day, her mother suggested painting as an activity. Mueller looked for a reason to decline the idea held little interest for her, but lacking anything bett ....

PORTSMOUTH – The New Hampshire Art Association will be holding a “Body of Work: Series I” exhibition during the month of April at the Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery on State Street.
NHAA holds several “Body of Work” shows throughout the year to give its members an opportunity to showcase a grouping of their works. By exhibiting multiple works, the featured artists are able to present their overall artistic vision, sometimes difficult to do with one or two pieces.
This first BOW exhibit at the gallery this year features eight local artists exhibiting in a wide variety of mediums. Come and celebrate springtime in downtown Portsmouth and enjoy this visual feast for the eyes and spirit. ....

Tracy Mattheson creates a new studio and community in Eliot, Maine

Tracy Mattheson, a Massachusetts transplant, may best be described as the adventitious, social artist of Eliot, Maine. The representational painter only recently found her way back to art, a pursuit she d always intended to be her focus - but life happens.
Mattheson earned her bachelor of arts degree in painting from Mass Art Boston and her bachelor of communications and design with an eye on a fine and commercial art career. Marriage and children, and later single parenting, made short shrift of her intent.
There was a job in advertising, a stint in the U.S. Army as a sergeant in intelligence analysis, then came a career as a crisis counselor in Massachusetts. Art was delegated to the fringes as responsibilities grew, Mattheson says. ....

Perfect Pairings : NHAA members exhibit pairs of works

PORTSMOUTH – February, the second month, brings Valentine s Day and it’s all about twos, pairs, and relationships.
“Perfect Pairings,” the February exhibit at the New Hampshire Art Association’s Robert Lincoln Levy Gallery, plays on this theme with artist members submitting “pairs” of works that relate to each other.
All works will be for sale online and at the gallery from Feb. 3 through Feb. 28.
“While both works will be for sale as individual pieces, we will encourage customers to consider purchasing both works as a set,” said NHAA Board President Renee Giffroy. ....

Marianne Stillwagon’s work hangs in “Reflections of the Lowcountry” now through Jan. 31.
A graphic designer by trade, Stillwagon worked through the 1980s creating ads and designs by hand. As the profession went increasingly digital, Stillwagon left and chose to return to her first love of painting. ....
