A former Springfield police officer is being sentenced to two-to-three years in state prison after a conviction in a child sexual assault case.
Thirty-one-year-old Daniel Cintron was recently found guilty in a jury-waived trial in Hampden Superior Court on two counts each of indecent assault and battery on a child and intimidation of a witness.
Hampden District Attorney Anthony D. Gulluni stated, “I hope this verdict brings justice to all of the victims and families involved in this case. The bravery of the victims should be commended in coming forward, as the fear and angst created by someone who abused his position of power, is not easily overcome. My office will continue to fight for victimized children and all victims of abuse.”

A 54-year-old Palmer woman has been arrested for her connection with a Fox Street murder last week.
The Hampden County DA says Brenda Mayhew was arrested for her role in the death of one person on February 8th.
Police were called to the home where they had to force the door open and found one person dead and two others hurt.
The DA is not saying what connected the investigation to Mayhew. She will be arraigned on the murder and other charges later today in Palmer District Court.
