Friday Night Chimney Fire In Lanesborough
The Lanesborough Fire Department and Police reported a chimney fire, at 18 Rosenburg on Friday night.
According to a story reported on by WWLP/22 News Springfield, fire units from Lanesborough and Hancock had to face frigid temperatures to contain the fire.
Firefighters knocked down the bulk of the fire with water and entered the house where they called for a vent as they suppressed the fire inside.
The majority of the fire had been put out around 10:00 p.m.
The Lanesborough Police reported that the residents inside the house exited out of it safely.
The Hancock Volunteer Fire Department, Cheshire Fire Department, and the Berkshire County Sheriff’s Office also helped at the time of the incident.
Community service acknowledged at Hancock selectmenâs meeting
HANCOCK â Members of the Hancock Board of Selectmen took time at their Dec. 16 meeting to recognize and listen to reports of community service efforts in the town, including work with the Hancock Volunteer Fire Department and efforts to combat food insecurity at Hancock Grammar School (HGS).
Board Chairman George Colwell presented Chief Chris Holmes with a certificate from the town that acknowledged all the hard work the department does and for being a 2020 recipient of the Spirit of America Award.Â
The Spirit of America Award, issued by the Spirit of America Foundation, an organization out of Augusta, honors volunteerism.Â

(Trenton) â A shooter may be on the loose this morning in Trenton following an incident last night that may have left at least two people wounded. It happened on Birch Heights Drive off Oak Point Road sometime after 8-oâclock last night.  Neighbors posted on social media seeing numerous police cars and ambulances rushing to the scene, and other social media posts based mainly on police radio traffic indicated multiple injuries and that police were searching the area for the shooter. The Hancock County Communications Center said the incident was ongoing early this morning but declined to provide further information.
