Wellesley s Stanley Hodges turned 100 years old on Jan. 12 and his neighbors on Pickerel Road and Pickerel Terrace made sure he celebrated in style. They brought balloons, five flower arrangements, and a gift card to Captain Marden s.
Hodges is, as one of his neighbors put it, a proper English gentleman, even though he spent his formative years in France. His story is an intriguing tale of war and suffering that has been passed on to the next generation.
During a phone call with the Townsman (which of course included an invitation to come by for a spot of tea ), he said his daughter, Beth Olney, knows all the details of those harrowing years.
