That was Facebook comment from the Hammonton Fire Department after more than two inches of rain fell in just over an hour Tuesday afternoon, causing flashing flooding, stranding drivers, setting off alarms and leading to at least two water rescues in Hammonton. Get our free mobile app Heavy rain started a little after 5pm, with 2.23 inches of rain falling according to the National Weather Service.  Hammonton firefighters were called in to help with water rescues on the corner of Central and Valley Avenue and on the corner of Packard Street at Pleasant Street.

The Hammonton Fire Department got the call Wednesday evening to respond to a crash where a driver was trapped in an overturned vehicle. Fire and rescue crews from the Hammonton Fire Department responded to a crash on North 3rd St. a little before 8pm Wednesday. They found a person trapped inside an overturned vehicle, according to a post on the fire department s Facebook page. Crews worked to free and care for the driver who, from the looks of the crash photo,  was lucky to have suffered only minor injuries. The individual was treated on scene and then transported to AtlantiCare Health Park in Hammonton.

Santa gets annual help with mail from Hammonton fire department Updated Dec 20, 2020; The Hammonton Independent Volunteer Fire Company concluded its annual Letters to Santa program with a total of 545 letters being received and mailed out to local children. Each letter received is answered with personalized return letter from Santa on official letterhead, placed in a special envelope secured with an official Christmas foil seal. The program has grown each year, with 2020 attracting the most out-of-area letters, some from beyond the state.
