Sweden clinch women’s relay IBU World Cup crown with Nové Město win Thursday, 4 March 2021
Sweden captured the women’s International Biathlon Union (IBU) World Cup relay crystal globe after winning the sixth and final event of the season in Nové Město na Moravě in the Czech Republic.
Elvira Öberg clinched victory in the women’s 4x6-kilometre relay when she sprinted up the last hill to pass Belarus’ Elena Kruchinkina.
The 25-year-old and her Swedish team mates Mona Brorsson, Hanna Öberg and Linn Persson finished in a time of 1 hour 3min 26.6sec using six spare rounds. I am so tired, it was so hard on the final lap, said Elvira Öberg.

Eckhoff tops the podium again at IBU World Championships Saturday, 13 February 2021
Norway’s Tiril Eckhoff claimed her second gold medal of the International Biathlon Union World Championships with victory in the women’s 7.5 kilometres sprint in Pokljuka in Slovenia.
Eckhoff, a gold medallist at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi, produced a perfect 10-out-of-10 in the shooting as she recorded a winning time of 21min 18.7sec.
The 30-year-old now has eight world titles, but this was her first sprint crown since 2016. Today was really hard on the shooting range and I took some extra time, said Eckhoff, who was part of Norway’s gold-medal winning mixed relay team earlier this week.
