NAHCON to adopt Malaysian, Indonesian Hajj models

Determined to overcome the likely consequences of the cancellation of the annual pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia for two consecutive years, the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) has revealed plans to adopt the Malaysia and Indonesia system of Hajj operations to deal with the congestion. The chairman of the Hajj Commission, Alh Zilkrullah Kunle Hassan, disclosed this while addressing Journalists. x He said he was hoping that foreign nationals would be allowed to perform this year’s pilgrimage after Muslims all over the world were given limited opportunity to perform lesser Hajj (Umrah) earlier in the year, but since that did not happen, the Commission is determined to overcome the challenges ahead.

Bauchi, Gombe, Plateau back Jaiz Bank s Hajj Savings Scheme

ADVERTISEMENT Bauchi, Gombe and Plateau States have pledged support for the newly introduced Hajj Savings Scheme by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and Jaiz Bank to ease hajj processes for Muslims in Nigeria. Governors Bala Muhammed of Bauchi, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe and Simon Lalong of Plateau endorsed the scheme at the launching and sensitisation exercises in their respective states during the week. Governor Bala, who personally launched the scheme in the state for the northeast, said the new scheme would make it easier for intending pilgrims to perform hajj in Saudi Arabia, adding that funds realised through the scheme would be invested in halal products that will generate profits for the savers.

Upbeat swing as Hajj commission counts blessings

Zikrullah Chairman, National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NAHCON, Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, has said activities at the hajj house have significantly transformed in the last 12 months despite the devastating impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the entire globe. Zikrullah, who spoke with journalists recently on occasion marking his first anniversary as NAHCON chief, explained that the new board had built solid a foundation in hajj house in the last one year. The fourth board of NAHCON under the leadership of Zikrullah was inaugurated in March 2020 and had since then swung into action with clear vision to transform hajj exercise in line with global best standard.

Sanwo-Olu flags-off Hajj Savings Scheme

Share Lagos State governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Sunday, flagged off the Hajj Savings Scheme for South-West states of the country, designed to encourage intending pilgrims to save towards actualising their dreams of performing the Holy pilgrimage in Saudi Arabia as enshrined in the Holy Quran within a specified period of time. The scheme is a tripartite arrangement between the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), States’ Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards and Ja’iz Bank. Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu, who was represented by the deputy governor, Dr Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, described the scheme as a welcome development, saying it could not have come at a better time than now that the global economic meltdown was affecting virtually everybody and countries of the world, including Nigeria.
