Department of Energy Funding Boosts US-MAP Research into Perovskites

Department of Energy Funding Boosts US-MAP Research into Perovskites April 21, 2021 The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded $40 million to fund continuing research into perovskites, with much of the money going to facilities connected to a consortium led by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The collaborative effort established at NREL two years ago called the U.S. Manufacturing of Advanced Perovskites Consortium (US-MAP) is a public-private effort involving laboratories, universities, and private industry. The consortium brings together leaders in perovskite research, development, and manufacturing, to reduce costs and minimize risks for potential investors. The DOE funds support research and development efforts to advance perovskite photovoltaic

Swift Solar nets another $8M in funding to develop its perovskite technology

Solar PV technology company Swift Solar  recently recognized by a joint R&D 100 Award with the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has raised over $16 million in equity financing to date for its work with perovskite tech, recently securing more than $8 million in Series Seed 2 funding, with an additional $1.5 million expected to close soon. The funding round will be used to expand R&D capabilities, develop prototypes, and grow the Swift Solar team. / Advertisement / “Today’s industry leaders recognize that perovskite technology represents new possibilities for the future of solar,” said Co-Founder and CEO Joel Jean. “The Swift Solar team is working nonstop to make solar panels more affordable, more efficient, and easier to install. With this funding, we can move faster on our path toward powering tomorrow’s zero-emissions vehicles and power grids with high-performance solar.”
