(Photo: AFP) Sri Lankan media organizations have urged the government to expedite investigations into the sexual abuse of female journalists. Journalist Sarah Kellapatha alerted others through Twitter about her experience of sexual harassment. After sharing Kellapatha s experience on social media, several female journalists have raised their voice against sexual violence in the workplace.

SLPI, media organisations meet Media Minister

Monday, 28 December 2020 00:17 -       A delegation from constituent partners and affiliates of the Sri Lanka Press Institute (SLPI) met Mass Media Minister Keheliya Rambukwella last week to request him to consult stakeholders when drafting media law reforms as had been proposed by the Minister recently. The Minister agreed to do so in the New Year.  The delegation comprised representatives of the Newspaper Society of Sri Lanka, The Editors’ Guild of Sri Lanka, Free Media Movement, Sri Lanka Working Journalists Association, Tamil Media Alliance, Muslim Media Forum, Federation of Media Employees’ Trade Union, South Asia Free Media Association and the SLPI.
