Iowa City residents hope to block construction of concrete plant

Iowa City landowners filed a lawsuit against Streb Construction Co. to prevent them from building a concrete plant. The landowners worry that dust from the plant will harm their crops, lower property value and cause health problems.
The proposed plant will be located at the corner of Liberty Drive and Independence Road. Already, plans have been made to lower the plant’s impact on the surrounding community – including a double line of trees around the proposed plant’s perimeter.
