STERLING – The Sterling Police Department are still searching for a man they say is responsible for the shooting death of a 29-year-old man. Authorities say on Saturday 35-year-old Michael W. Bennett of Sterling allegedly shot Joshua N. Hamrick in the backyard of a residence. Hamrick was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead. Bennett has been charged with First Degree Murder and anyone with any information on his whereabouts are asked to contact the Sterling Police Department.

STERLING, Ill. Sterling Police responded to a call of a shooting at approximately 9:36 pm Saturday evening, May 1st at 901 West 19th Street in Sterling. The caller told police that a male had been shot.
When officers arrived they located 39-year-old Joshua N. Hamrick of Sterling in the back yard of the residence. Officers and paramedics immediately began rendering aid before transporting him to CGH Medical Center in Sterling where he was pronounced dead.

Police are currently looking for the suspect, 35-year-old Michael W. Bennett who is not in custody at this time. An arrest warrant has been issued for Bennett charging him with first-degree murder with a bond of 2 million dollars.
STERLING An investigation resulted in a Sterling woman being arrested Friday and drugs seized.
Sterling Police, in conjunction with the Northern Worcester County Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant at 31 Lakeview Ave.
A large quantity of heroin and fentanyl was seized, as was over $1,000 in drug proceeds.
Susan Ustaitis, 48, of that address, was arrested and charged with trafficking in heroin and fentanyl and possession with intent to deliver a schedule B drugs.
She was arraigned Friday in Clinton District Court and held of $10,000 cash bail. She will be back in court on March 4 for pretrial.
Sterling Police Chief Gary Chamberland credited Office Steve Mucci, who was recently assigned to the task force, with playing a major role in the month-long investigation.
