Ivy, 13 months, found joy in nature

I’ll level with you: I used to hate kids. Hate them all without exception. But especially kids at campsites. Tearing around, dribbling all over the place, dragging their stupid little “blankies” while poking the carcass of a hedgehog with a stick. Take a child camping? Are you joking? I swore I would never do that. But in the pandemic world, needs must.
Like many cooped up Brits hoping to banish the cabin-fever blues, I suddenly saw camping as something tailor-made for escape, “Fresh air! Space! It will be fun!” I reassured my tent-avoiding girlfriend, in the smiling manner of a pyramid scheme conman.
