From soap dispensers to toothpaste tubes, our bathrooms are littered with single-use plastic. More often than not, they end up in landfill: a recent study found that consumers across the UK discard a whopping 520 million shampoo bottles every year.
Clearly, the personal care industry needs to clean up its act – and direct-to-consumer personal care brand FORGO is leading the charge. The brainchild of Swedish design studio Form Us With Love, it launched its first product, a powder-to-liquid hand wash, at Stockholm Design Week in February 2021. The concentrated powder simply needs to be mixed with warm tap water, with 12 grams yielding 250ml of foaming hand wash. Each starter kit contains three paper sachets of powder and a reusable glass bottle (refills are sold separately), virtually eliminating the use of plastic.
