70% of St. Cloud Area Veterans are Vaccinated [PODCAST]
This month on WJON s Voices for Veterans segment I was joined by Barry Venable, Public Affairs Officer from the St. Cloud V.A. and Josh Goudge, Veteran Services Supervisor from the St. Cloud V.A. Barry says 70% of veterans enrolled at the St. Cloud V.A. have been vaccinated for Covid-19 including more than 90% of those 85 years of age and older. He says he d like to see veterans 50 and younger get the vaccine in larger numbers than what they are currently seeing. Venable says if we re going to beat the pandemic we need everyone to join in, get vaccinated . He says if a person were to get a mild case of Covid-19 it is important to not pass it to others. St. Cloud VA Now Offering Vaccines for All Veterans [PODCAST]
The St. Cloud V.A. continues to progress with their Covid-19 vaccine rollout. Today on WJON s Voices for Veterans segment I was joined by Director of Pharmacy J.D. Anderson and Public Affairs Officer Barry Venable from the St. Cloud V.A. Anderson says the St. Cloud V.A. has administered more than 18,000 doses of the vaccine and approximately 6,000 veterans have completed the vaccination process. He says have been using both the Moderna and Johnson and Johnson vaccines. In some cases he says veterans have a choice of which vaccine they can get depending on supply.
St. Cloud V.A. Director of Pharmacy J.D. Anderson and St. Cloud V.A. Public Affairs Officer Barry Venable joined me on WJON today for our Voices for Veteran segment. Anderson says the St. Cloud V.A. has vaccinated more than 9,000 people with the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine and that number includes health care workers and nearly 7,000 veterans. Anderson says they are still vaccinating veterans who are 75+ but expect to start vaccinating the next group which extends to 65+ next week. Listen to our coverage below.
The St. Cloud V.A. will notify veterans with a letter when they are eligible to get a Covid-19 vaccine and urge veterans to check their website and facebook page for updates on the vaccination rollout process. Anderson says approximately 66 percent of those offered the vaccine have taken it. He says some still plan to get the vaccine but turned down in the first offer. Anderson is happy with how the process has worked. He says the V.A. is getting their vaccines
